About Us

An Introduction

When I moved to Vermont to continue my college education, I started working at the local drug store to pay rent. One day, a regular stopped in and mentioned there is an opening at the kitchenware store they work at, just down the road. I immediately applied. My brain was filled with beautiful notions of selling ceramic pans, stocking cookie cutters, and the warm smell of maple syrup. Not too long after, I came to find this position was more than just baking in grandma's kitchen.

After three months, the same person who told me to apply began training me on how to sharpen knives on a grindstone. I was terrified. Not afraid of possibly injuring myself with a sharp tool, but the fear of ruining someone’s Shun Premier 8” chef’s knife. Now, look up this knife and tell me you wouldn’t be afraid to put this on a rapidly rotating stone? Well, after a few years, I got pretty darn good at it. My schooling has since ended, but now I do this in the comfort of my own home. My career in gardening has allowed me to expand my sharpening ‘menu’. Not only am I sharpening kitchen knives, but I now sharpen pruners, cutters, and scissors.
